Red ants and aphids..

Red ants are ‘farming’ black aphids in the meadow.

The long stems of oxeye daisy stalks seem excellent for this purpose.

The red ants shepherd the flightless aphids and ‘milk’ them for the sugary liquid they exude.

Fascinating.
