Weasel-ly recognised..
This has been a good year for voles.
Their entrance holes are recognisable as being a thumb-sized with a neatly manicured entrance. Others may find their presence around the lawn edge a problem. Not here.
And with any food source follow predators.
During the early summer we were delighted by the barn owl quartering our meadow on the hunt for small mammals. This has been our best year for breeding success on the neighbouring farm.
A male kestrel was active in the garden too.
