The most profound of pleasures…

I’m a blunderer really.

Another one today.

We were expecting a big group of Notts Wildlife Trust young people for lunch. Cakes and biscuits and soup and bread made in a great team effort I moved on to press-ganging a motley crew of chairs into action.

One was in need of a cloth and I was directed to the old-cloths box.

Old cloth in hand I set about the dirty chair. Only to be challenged.

‘What are you doing?’

‘Wiping this chair’

‘What with?’

It then transpired that I’d mistaken the old-cloth box for the ironing basket and was using an especially-valued top that wasn’t a rag at all.

There were recriminations.

The most profound of pleasures today: a five minute visit down the steps to the vegetable garden with trug and knife ..
